At Piattini, we want you, our guest, to experience the true flavors and culture of our homeland, Italy. We are committed to using the finest ingredients, just like our ancestors did.. to create the authentic flavors of yesterday while embracing the creativity and diversity of today.

Who We Are

We don’t believe in shortcuts. We select our ingredients the same way our mother, Clelia, did: she went to the butcher for the meat, the cheese shop for the cheese, the bakery for fresh bread. And that’s still how we do it. Unlike so many dining experiences in the city that rely on just one or two vendors, we work with over twenty, each chosen for their expertise. Every part of our menu starts with someone who truly knows their craft.

Piattini means “small dish” in Italian, and our menu of small plates invites you to explore and share a variety of flavors, just like we do around our family table.

We’re a family-run restaurant through and through. What started with our mother’s love of antipasti has grown into a full team that operates with the same heart. Over the years, we’ve worked hard to pass this mindset on to our staff.. hospitality, warmth, and consistency are what drive us. Our location on Newbury Street in the heart of the Back Bay offers three intimate dining rooms and two sunken patios that make you feel like you’ve stepped into our home.

Piattini also offers a large selection of exceptional wines, enhanced by our Wine Education program. Each glass comes with a small card detailing the region, tasting notes, and fun facts about the wine.. because we believe great wine should be shared, understood, and enjoyed by all.

About our Founder - Josephine Oliviero

Piattini is owned by Josephine Oliviero. Josephine, the youngest of ten children and the only one born in the United States, initially pursued a career in fashion, working as an executive at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York. In 2000, she decided to return to her Boston roots and, inspired by her love for antipasti and small dishes, a preference that earned her the childhood nickname 'Piattini,' she opened the restaurant in 2001.
